Success Stories

Thomas joined the WIA Youth program in June of 2007 as a student at STARS High School. Thomas participated in the Summer Habitat for Humanity Welding program and received a certificate in basic welding from TSTC. Thomas was a positive asset to the Habitat program and used his leadership skills to motivate those he worked with. Thomas went on to graduate from STARS in June of 2008 and has completed his first semester as a Culinary Arts major at TSTC.

Chad recently enrolled in the WIA Program. He has already taken full advantage of what WIA has to offer. He enrolled in Sylvan and is attending 2-3 days a week. He has shown excitement about the progress he has made in his understanding of the subject. He is keeping up his grades and attending all his classes. Chad’s mother is thankful for the program and all it has offered her son. Sonia Fuentes, Chad’s Career Coach, says, “It is refreshing to see first-hand a parent that cares so much about her son’s education and seeing a student so motivated to succeed.”
